Management Negotiations

"Dear Boss,

I need you to give me considerably less work to do because I'm struggling to maintain my very important Top Secret Internet Life."

S'not going to work, is it?

('Specially when I've mentioned many of my current colleagues in a not very flattering light.)

Something's got to give. Sleep, food, or blogging?

  • Do you think you could ever be "outed"?

  • Sleep.

  • Food. You can down a glass of wine whilst blogging, thereby getting all needed nutrients. 'Sfine: wine's made from fruit, ergo it's good for you.

  • Oh no - you're not thinking of giving up are you?

By Blogger rockmother, at 12:12 AM

  • keep a jug of koumiss or maybe spirulina whip near to hand and food will not be a problem.
me too: worried about being 'dooced'?

By Blogger First Nations, at 1:55 AM

  • You've heard of 'Duvet days'.
How about a few 'blogging' days?

  • Can I have your readers then, Spin?

    L.U.V. on ya,

p.s. at the risk of sounding like a Peter Gabriel record, "Don't Give Up"....

  • Start an illicit affair with somebody high up in human resources or your boss, then blog about it at work - those dismissal letters will just get lost in the post.

    Oh I don't know? Food?

  • I'm afraid the blogging has had to give for me, in exactly the same situation. I like my food, as my waistline will tell you, and I'm afraid I have to sleep for as long as humanly possible without actually being in a coma.

  • The fear of being dooced has lurked in the background ever since I started blogging.

I'm not planning to stop, ever, unless I get married obviously (hahaahahahahaha), but like Wyndham I'm just a bit overwhelmed with extremely boring Real Life stuff like work and family shit at the minute.

  • I find I have to resort to blogging at nine o'clock on a Saturday evening.

By Blogger Geoff, at 9:06 PM

  • Me too Geoffers!

    I could get a life...but...

By Blogger Spinsterella, at 9:53 PM

  • Yes - the highlight of my Sat night was staying in and doing a podcast. I'm so boring.

By Blogger rockmother, at 1:11 PM

  • I should have mentioned this in my last appraisal. (I can never spell that word)

I have found time for blogging by doing not much else.

By Blogger Billy, at 6:02 PM

  • Tell me about it. Even though I am my boss, and I know about my blog, I still don't seem to be willing to let myself have some time off to nurture it.

On another note, don't worry - I gave up for two years once and it didn't seem to matter overmuch. The blog wil always be there to pick up again, and so will we.
