Drowned in Sound Pimps Spinsterella!

And not even one of my tragic indie witterings either.

  • Golly, don't a lot of DiS regulars have relatives who are published authors?

But I bet none of them are as funny as you, Spin.

  • Oooo. Now you're famous, will we still be allowed to read your blog?

By Blogger Dave, at 10:01 AM

  • Ooh, nice one.

By Blogger Billy, at 11:05 AM

  • Haha! That's sweet. Some people can't take criticism eh.

  • I can't believe Grove Atlantic published that book. They are a great publisher...

By Blogger Bowleserised, at 12:19 PM

  • The person ("yes_")who posted it agreed didn't he/she?

The hypocracy bit about Dundee University...

    Nice one.

  • I threw in my 2 cents. Pointless comment bitching about his punctuation, but I'm a grammar nazi, I just couldn't help myself. Sorry.

  • I think it's heartening that CB recognizes her inner nazi. That's a Guardian piece you have there. :)

  • I'm sorry Spin, but are we seriously expected to believe that you actually went to all the trouble of logging into that site just to post a comment?

(If you don't believe me, it's true - you actually have to log in before you can join the comment-fest concerning misplaced apostrophes and what a bunch of young musoes uncles and aunts do for a living. Mine are pikeys, btw - if anyones' interested*)

*note: the apostrophe is intentionally misplaced for comic effect, Pedanterella...

  • I have no idea what Drowned In Sound actually is. Does that make me terribly old? And who's uncle have you married?

By Blogger Wyndham, at 1:51 PM

  • ...apostrophes, even, before you all put your Wehrmacht hats on and start annexing the Sudetenland...

By Blogger Robert Swipe, at 1:51 PM

  • *whose*

    Sorry, hungover.

By Blogger Wyndham, at 2:19 PM

  • I have no idea what Drowned in Sound is either but I wanted someone else to admit to it first.

  • Drowned in Sound is a website for geeky indie kids like me.

And yes, I did go to the botheration at 7 this morning to register so I could post a comment. I was quite gobsmacked - my stats had goe a bit mental. (Not quite so crazy as that time Bob pimped me on the Grauniad's pre-CiF comments board though.)

And indeed, I like the fact that "Yes_" a couple of comments in started to (sort of) agree with me.

  • Oh, and on the grammar question.

In 'proper' communication (signs, official letters and emails, anything public) I'm a complete nazi too.

But where it comes to forums/comments/emails to friends/anything informal I don't really mind. (Please see any comment I may have made ever for lots of examples of typos and random apostrophe's. Especially when I've had a few vinos.)

CB - if the (pretty intelligent) DiS forum offends your sensibilities, you should check out some grime/tachno/breaks forums for a txt spk/emoticon frenzy.

  • well dang! lookit you!
that is very cool, i must say! now you and tim can talk shop with a jaded yet sophisticated air over the rest of our heads while we marvel at your glory!

  • must remember to drop in a reference to DiS when in conversation with one of my neighbour's teenage kids

    loved the thread, though

  • Read in the Guardian that Comment is Free is a year old, so that means I've already been following this brilliant blog for a year -- since I was brought here by the great CiF pimping. What difference did that make to your stats, and was there a lasting effect?

The paper should give you a regular Right to Reply slot, either in Family or Weekend. And as for the blog, my one great fear is that sooner or later we'll get to "Reader, I shagged him", and there just won't be any more...
