we hate it when our friends...

It’s not just myself and GSE who find weddings a bit of an ordeal. I got this email from a friend after he’d been to the wedding of one of his friends from university.

Hello S,

I have now been to this wedding which was an averagely ghastly experience. I went as a failure, which appears to be where I stand in relationship to my college friends. Everyone is married. Most of them have children. All of them have houses. They are all in some sense successful. Graham Coxon played at the service. What a misery.

Poor chap.

My friends all much more successful than me too, but at least none of them are mates with frigging pop stars.

I've never had much time for him either, Spin. Could have been worse.

    Gorillaz.

  • God, I bet they were dead smug about Coxon.

  • I would rather drink bin juice than have Coxon play anywhere near my ears. Fucker.

  • My friend is getting married which came as a bit of a shock.

My only hope is to take someone to the wedding who is likely to be inappropriate.

That should liven things up a bit.

  • I rather like Coxon's more recent stuff. Which just makes it all the worse.

  • I read an interview with Graham Coxon where he was complaining about being single not long ago, so maybe that accounts for the miserable mug when surrounded by all those smug marrieds.

Oh, I forgot, he always looks like that.

  • i bet he swiped a centerpiece and a couple of spoons.
    sounds like the type.

  • Sounds like he feels a bit sorry for himself and Graham Coxon warbling probably tipped him over the edge. What a depressing person to play at your wedding - more like divorce music if you ask me.

  • That's a bit of a comedown isn't it? Does he do bar mitvahs as well?

  • no idea who he is

  • He used to be in Blur. But he left and has released a clatter of solo albums - started shit but have been getting increasingly good.

he used to have alcohol problems (yawn).

(I'd still do him. Dark hair, glasses, geeky looking, skinny.)

  • I quite like Graham Coxon. Both music and as a sex object. Well, a bit anyway.

  • this is a little off-topic but, even as a smug married type, i'd like to elicit views on how weird it is for a friend to send you a dvd of the birth of their child*

    me, i'm thinking: VERY weird

    * in this case, by caesarean
