How Men Should Smell

A couple of slightly strange comments in my last post. Chaucer's Bitch is "suspicious of men who smell good", whereas First Nations likes a man to smell of patchouli and gasoline.

Well.

I like men to smell clean. A hint of soap'n'deodorant and recently washed clothes. Not aftershave, or at least not tonnes of it. That's it really, I'm easily pleased.

Suggestions welcome...

  • I'm a sucker for pheromones, personally.

  • I agree with the fresh clean thing, absolutely. Plus a tiny bit of aftershave and a tiny bit of fresh sweat.

  • I am glad not all men smell like my man, or I would not be able to control myself. I especially like his his neck smells when he's been in the sun. It's not sweat, just warm skin. Ah bliss!

  • GSE here.
Ah yes - warm skin. But no sweat. Maybe the slightest hint of vetiver.

    Your Geordie sounded quite malodorous.

  • I smell like freshly baked bread.

  • I like manky rower stink. combination of sweat, sunblock, river water, and mildew. mmm...

By Blogger Chaucer's Bitch, at 12:54 PM

  • does that mean you have a yeast infection lc?

By Blogger shoppersaurus rex, at 2:11 PM

  • I was going to suggest that I smelled of chocolate, but GSE would probably find something wrong with that too.

  • Patchouli smells horrid. I'm with you I'd rather then smell clean and like themselves. And PLEASE donm't smell like Polo because it reminds me of those horrid corridors in frat houses where the smell of Polo would linger with someone tossing their cookies.

  • Hmph.
maybe y'all just better re-set your nosehairs. the fragrance of the romantic indies, in my experience, also happens to be the fragrance of smart, handsome, butch as fuck men with good jobs and normal relationships with their parents. *smug*
secret revealed! get out there and start huffing!

  • I like natural. Almost no aftershave, but clean clothes and maybe a hint of shampoo. A bit spicy. Mmm...

  • Thought I didn't like patchouli until I ended up with a bottle of Etro Patchouly, which is addictive and wonderful. Still prefer to smell it on myself to smelling it on a man, though.

Clean sweat is nice, but only on certain people. I swear a good 30% of Mr Weasel's attractiveness comes simply from our histological compatibility.

  • I like freshly washed man. And a wee bit of light aftershave. Not a big fan of sweat.

By Blogger frangelita, at 11:40 AM

  • Talking of man-smells - Kouros should be banned or should just be re-named Migraine. I agree - fresh washed, bit of warm skin and bit of sweat - nice!

By Blogger rockmother, at 12:09 PM

  • Blimey - we appear to have something resembling a consensus* here.

Men: if you want to smell good to women, shower regularly, but don't be afraid to get a bit of a slight glow on.

    Easy.

*Apart from CB, you dirty minx, manky rower stink indeed.

  • While we're on this subject, does aftershave go off? I've had one bottle for so long I can't remember if it smells the same now as it did when I received it - on the 25th December 2001.

Also, do men ever buy the stuff, or are they always given it?

By Blogger The Blind Flaneur, at 2:55 PM

  • I'm with you on that, but I did once shag a man who smelled heavenly, only to find out it was old spice. Wierd.

By Blogger The Lady Muck, at 5:26 PM

  • old spice does smell heavenly.

Blind Flaneur - if you kept the bottle closed in a cool dark environment (eg its box) then it ought to be OK. Depends what it is though - some aftershaves are NEVER OK, however fresh.

I like Kouros lightly applied. REminds me of someone

  • I smell like a cake that has been left out in the rain at the moment. Pesky weather.

By Blogger Billy, at 7:23 PM

  • i'm wierd. sue me.

By Blogger Chaucer's Bitch, at 7:44 PM

  • from previous-biker-life experience:

    petrol = good
    leathers = good
    damp tent = bad

    however...:

    other half = divine

he smells of none of the above, but i don't care. i'm with undercovercookie - it's a back-of-the-neck thing. warm skin, manly deodorant and something-or-other. i could tell you which bits of him smell of biscuits, but nobody needs to know that.

    um...carry on.

By Blogger surly girl, at 8:11 PM

  • Biscuits?

    Is that soggy biscuits?

    (sorry)

By Blogger Spinsterella, at 8:49 PM

  • no. sort of a warm, been-in-the-tin-a-couple-of-days smell.

isn't soggy biscuit an urban myth? or is that just wishful thinking on my part? boys are vile.

By Blogger surly girl, at 9:06 PM

  • Someone once told me "soggy biscuit" is known as "whack the cracker" in American. Ew!

By Blogger Billy, at 9:23 PM

  • I like them to smell like they just fixed my car for free coz I have breasts.
Thats never happened though. Possibly coz I practically have Lesbian stamped across my forehead.

  • Buy an aftershave lotion

I am sure that you are not a person who gets used to just one special type of look, and I am sure that you want to always look better, and why not? It is a thing to do so we can attract the opposite sex, and of course, you are going to be succeeding at this by simply taking some good care of your body and having the perfect shave helps. To shave is something we do every day, and trust me, a woman who appreciates that her man shaves, also appreciates that he takes good enough care of his skin, and that is precisely what you should begin doing, in fact, you are going to be getting lots of incredible commentaries on your looks by simply changing one thing about yourself, actually, not changing, but adding, all you need to add into your everyday life is some aftershave lotion.

I know it may sound silly, but a lotion for when after you shave really makes a difference, you are going to get many benefits, and that is just a good enough reason for you to look for the aftershave lotion that could be working the best on you. A good aftershave lotion is a lotion with a smell that you can feel identified with, there is a lot of personality that comes from this, and you need to find your own to feel better about the way that you look, feel and of course smell. About the advantages of the aftershave lotion, there is the case that a lotion of this kind is able of making you have a much smoother skin, which will also look great, you are going to be avoiding rashes, and what is best of it all, you will avoid having infections from cuts.

So do something to better your appearance, make sure that you get nothing but the best in terms of looking good and smelling sensational, I assure you that this is going to make you quite a ladies man, a good aftershave lotion is all it takes. http://www.bestaftershaveformen.com
